At the recent Circular Economy Conference on “Industrial By-Product Utilization and Value Creation” held in Jamshedpur, RHI Magnesita was proud to participate with a presentation on “Recycling of Refractories: Towards Sustainable Steel in India.” This opportunity allowed us to share our green portfolio philosophy, highlighting how we are actively working to enhance sustainability in the steel sector by incorporating advanced refractory recycling practices. Our presentation underscored our dedication to recycling, sustainability, and innovative solutions that align with our customers' expectations for environmentally responsible operations.
Jointly organized by Tata Steel, the Indian Ceramic Society (Jamshedpur Chapter), and CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, the conference brought together a diverse group of industry leaders, researchers, and academics to address the increasing need for sustainable solutions in the metallurgical sector. The focus was on recycling and repurposing by-products, which often remain underutilized but hold great potential for advancing a circular economy. Key discussions at the conference included:
1. Sustainability in India: Trends and the future.
2. Reutilization of steelmaking by-products, such as slags for road construction
3. Utilization of by-products and waste for cement production
4. Recycling of refractories
This conference provided an excellent platform for RHI Magnesita to connect with industry peers, share insights, and explore collaborative approaches to sustainability. Our team left with valuable insights and renewed inspiration for advancing our initiatives, furthering our commitment to driving meaningful change and setting new standards for circularity in the refractory and steel industries.
